Angelic Conversations continues Alex Baczyński-Jenkins’s exploration of the structures of desire. This work undertakes the conditions of devotion, grace, and ecstasy. Through movement, sound, light, and poetic text, the piece asks how choreography can become a practice of invocation, a means of communion, and a medium for an encounter between the corporeal and the incorporeal. Baczyński-Jenkins works with a historical and contemporary movement vocabulary that explores a spectrum between ecstasy and spirituality. In Angelic Conversations, he and three dancers explore the sensual, political, and relational potential inherent in the figure of the angel.
